What is cross linking?
Cross linking refers to the practise of back linking several domains
Cross linking is sometimes used to inflate link popularity to a given domain. A practise discouraged as can lead to penalties from search directories, although this has yet to be proved (to my knowledge).
Any tactics that are designed or intended to artificially influence the SERP results should be strongly discouraged and can be considered 'black hat' techniques.
